Shopper Style: Sisters

We had two of the cutest customers in the store today. We love their relaxed style, with the colourful bandannas, military jacket and amazing vintage flared pants! Finally, after secretly admiring them from afar, we worked up the nerve to ask if they'd mind if we took some photos for the blog! It turns out they are visiting from France, sisters Tifenn and Naina Le Gloahec from Paris via Provence. They really love the vintage shopping in Montreal, which they say is way more interesting and affordable than the shops back home.

More Fall Must-Haves, Vintage Edition

Meaghan here: It's official. Summer has made its final bow. Gone are the days of strappy dresses, cut-offs and bathing suits. Welcome autumn by mixing fabrics and patterns. There is no better season for pairing wool, silk, fur (or faux). Look fab and stay warm! We have some extra special fall must-haves in store. Pictured here are some of my faves:

Fall Must-Have: The Overcoat

I love this 90s style tartan overcoat in cobalt blue. Paired with an emerald pin and a navy tank, an emerald jean skirt and a braided belt. All in store at various prices.

Fall Must-Have: A Wonderfully Warm Jacket

This silver lambswool coat with fur colour is a stand-out. Stay warm and feel like a million bucks (but, spend much less)!

Fall Must-Have: Autumnal Footwear

Put away the sandals, and embrace the new shoe season. I am head over heels for these clogs in rust coloured suede with wooden heel.

Fall 2011 Must-Have: Tartan

I've paired this Geiger tartan wool skirt with a knit tank, a Harris tweed hat and an adorable mini-purse. The best accessory for this outfit? A Scottie Dog. All in store (excluding dog), various prices.

Fall Must-Have: Layered Textures

Silk top with ruffled shoulders in muted violet, a wonderfully soft wool scarf and high-waist woolen trousers.

Fall Must Have: The slouchy sweater

Pick one in a neutral colour to pair with anything and everything.

Wrapping it up... in this candy striped scarf with slouchy navy sweater and emerald pin.

Hurry in and take advantage of our new to you fall stock!

Puces Pop 2011

The store was extra hopping this Saturday, thanks to Puces Pop once again held just down the street at St-Micheals church. At the height of it, we had a group of Pop Montreal volunteers come by to take a little break, and try on some boots! It was nice to see folks so enthusiastic about volunteering and just generally having such a great time! So - in the the spirit of the day, we decided to go check out Puces Pop and see what new and exciting things might be waiting for us there!

Puces Pop director Marilis Cardinal looking cool as a cucumber!

I was really pleased to see that it wasn't as crazy packed as it had been the previous year. There were tons of people to be sure, but it was comfortable, with enough room so that you could stop and properly look at things without feeling like you're in the way.

Project Bijou by the ever talented Ms. Ingrid (who is also the manager at our sister store, clothing exchange shop Local 23)

printed dish-clothes by sparrow avenue (www.sparrowavenue.etsy.com)

I was charmed by this lovely guy, Gabriel Ng, who shares my exact taste in old photographs which he has lovingly found frames for.

Gorgeous "Day of the Dead" inspired jewellery by the talented Audrey Cantwell aka Ovate.

Frida Kahlo inspired dolls and cards, by Cara Carmina (www.caracarmina.com)

I totally fell in love with a bracelet by a designer I'd never heard of before "Sea and Land". But when I went to pay for it, I discovered it was just another disguise for one of my favourite Montreal designers Angie Johnson aka Norwegian Wood! Tricky!

There were some genuinely new discoveries, like these gorgeous felted wallets by Comme Ca. And delicate little sterling jewelery pieces by the Angry Weather.

And of course, there were many many familiar favourites like these pillow creaturs by Tyson Bodnarchuk and General 54 mainstay Broundoor who never ceases to amaze me with his new designs (mini briefcases!!) all in recycled leather.

And then finally it was time to get back to the shop! Drop by Puces Pop tomorrow! Sunday is the last day. They are open from 11am-6pm and believe me it is well worth the trip! xg
